Oil spill may reach Bahamas by weekend

The worst natural disaster to hit the Gulf Coast is likely to reach local coastlines by the weekend, according to Chief Climatological Officer Michael Stubbs, who said a shift in wind patterns is expected to propel the oil slick towards The Bahamas.

In an interview with The Nassau Guardian yesterday Stubbs said that in pervious weeks weather conditions have kept the oil slick contained in the Gulf of Mexico.

"As it stands now the wind is not supporting movement out of the Gulf. It's keeping the oil particles that are floating along the surface in the Gulf of Mexico," said Stubbs.

"However as Friday approaches we see the weather pattern changing and what would happen then is the winds in the area would be flowing clockwise, making it possible for oil floating on the surface to make it to the notorious loop current. So once the particles move into the loop current the chances are for it to reach our area."

Bahamian students call on Government to evacuate them out of Jamaica quickly

Bahamian students residing in Jamaica at this hour are calling on the Bahamian government to evacuate them quickly as tensions rise on that tiny Caribbean nation. "Keep the Bahamian students informed on what the government is doing BP, this situation is getting scary and they need to bring us home," one student studying at the Mona Campus told BP late today. Another student said, "I am in Kingston right now, and all I can hear all around me are gunshots ringing in my ears, where is the Bahamas government to get us out of this escalating situation?" The Gleaner is also reporting sporadic shootings in Kingston at this hour. Resistance by members of the public to release drug lord, Christopher Dudus Coke, to US authorities have erupted violence on the streets of Jamaica. The national guard of Jamaica have moved into townships to quiet the violence and a state of emergency was declared by Prime Minister Bruce Golding last night. Since the violence erupted, two police officers are dead and more than 6 civilians are wounded at last report in St. Andrew parish. Bahamas Press is also advised since the criminal elements of Jamaica began their reign of terror and declared war in the country, three police stations have been firebombed by rebels opposing Coke's extradition. Travel advisories have come from the UK, Germany, France and North America advising travelers to avoid the country. No statement have come, however, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here in the Bahamas on plans to evacuate Bahamian students studying in Jamaica. BP can confirmMinister Brent Symonette is meeting with officials in his department at this hour to make a final decision following the violence. BP calls on the minister to quickly address the matter and step in to protect Bahamian students caught in the war now escalating on the ground.

What's up folks ? Nosey here, so while nosing around today I found an awesome clothing store...Believe me when i say I loves to shop!!! [the bad grammar is deliberate so don't start] It's called Flaunt and it is in Palmdale.... Ladies needless to say the jewellery was great quality not the costumey crap that cost fifty dollars and look like one cent [and in reality costs one cent] and the clothing & handbags were Frigging A+ ...needless to say I am advising y'all to run and check it out asap...In addition the lady who owns it is a beautiful soul... a bloody relief from these inappropriate, clueless eggheads who call themselves store clerks...

Also check out Spaghettios on Village Road. It is the Bahamian version of Cheers[you wanna be where everybody knows your name...] believe that-intelligent conversation for days.You have been tipped,now get there fast , tell them RnC sent you, that might be good for something...dunno what yet...


Also if you didn't know it, this weekend is about to get fricking awesome!!! My dude Kenny Mackey & Ozzie Pratt have the bossiest event of the year going down...It's the one and only Stepping on the shores... it begins Friday with an awesome club party and of course the step show at Arawak Key Saturday and wraps up with...the sail away on Sunday...

Second Bahamian Act Added to Miami Best Of The Best Concert

Bahamian hip hop artist Goldenchild, is the second Bahamian artist to be added to the annual Best of The Best Concert slated for Miami at the end of this month. GC as his friends call him is based in the US and has been putting out hit after hits. Sammy Starr will also be performing on the star studded show that will include appearances by Diddy , Gucci , and the biggest and brightest reggae stars in the world including Gyptian. Local performer Kilo Grams will also be performing at the pre show.

There has been no news yet about whether top reggae artists; Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel and Movado will be performing. The stars have had their US visas revoked recently.
