Hey guys and gals, there is a new arts forum in town. ART IS, this show is a cleaner more structured sister of now ended open mic EXpress Yourself...ART IS, is both a question and a statement. It requires no answer at the same time giving an answer...The show opened on July 20th in the Colonial Hilton.
According to organizers this show seeks to gather artists in every genre in one spot on a weekly basis to share their definition of what ART is...
So what is different about this Arts forum? The open mic is one hr 8:30pm to 9:30pm...leaving room for the serious artistes who will be featured from week to week... Artists that have already been featured include, Manifest, Bodine Seven SOS, Jahvoice,Lyrically Blessed & Gospel Boys...In weeks to come look for performances from more talented Bahamian and international artistes...
Also lest we forget, every week a new visual artist is featured...So far the forum has featured Carla Campbell of ART on the Go, a service that provides live paintings...
New also is the backing ART IS band, consisting of Daria Delancey, Zondra Thompson & Gary Smith....the band backs up featured performers as well as the open mic poets...providing a tangible acoustic vibe to the event...
A cover charge of $5 is collected at the door, however open mic performers get in for free or with the handing in of ten used books...
