STILL STANDING

STILL STANDING

This one man show previously played to sold out audiences numerous times at venues in New Providence, Grand Bahama, the family Islands and several Caribbean countries since its debut in March 1996. Still Standing has won eight Danza awards including Best Overall Production and Best Original Work.

In this updated version of the production, Pintard addresses the “black crab syndrome” among his people, speaks candidly about aspects of Bahamian sexuality, gets personal about marriage and challenges us on the issue of violence in the Bahamas. He takes a swipe at politricks and several other topical issues. The poetry, storytelling and dramatic monologues is brutally honest, humorous, witty and sometimes angry.
In this recital he communicates through poetry, storytelling, monologues in the tradition of Pat Rahming, Susan Wallace and Pandora Gibson. In this production Pintard bears his soul and in the process undresses his community. The audience could expect to experience the jubilation and melancholy of romance. However, they must brace themselves for candid and sometimes scorching political, social and cultural commentary.
Despite the commentary, the production is entertaining. Don’t be alarmed if you find yourself tapping your feet, occasionally laughing and definitely gasping at how daring and open the writer is.
