With an increase in violence in our society, it may lead one to ask “What is
Going On?” That is the reasoning behind the lyrics to a new song penned by
reggae gospel recording artist Gesner Dalmon better known as Mr. J.
“I think everyone needs to do their part in raising awareness of this growing
social scourge in our society. Violence has become far too commonplace almost to
the point of acceptance. Through the medium of music, I hope to remind folks
that Nassau used to be a very peaceful town and many of us miss that.
Therefore, it is incumbent upon all of us to do as much as we can to keep our
society as safe as we can. Artists have a particular responsibility (since their
music is heard by many people) to encourage positive behavior from other
Bahamians.
This problem is very vexing and I hope that I am joined by many other artists
who also see fit to bring awareness to the violence in our society.”
A soft spoken young man with a strong desire to serve God, Mr. J sings
passionately in the most unexpected bombastic voice. He has also collaborated
with fellow reggae gospel artist Deacon Culture on this song What Is Going On.
The song has been released on radio stations here in Nassau and around the
family of islands. It can also be downloaded from various internet sites.
